On **August 27, 2026**, the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) announced the swearing-in of 35 immigration judges and 3 temporary immigration judges at the Justice Department's Great Hall in Washington, D.C. Two of the new immigration judges, **Andrew Hurd** and **Angela M. Kaul**, were assigned to the **Denver Immigration Court** ([EOIR biographies](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1459376/dl?inline=); [press release](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1459391/dl?inline=)). With that announcement, EOIR's investiture announcements from February through August 2026 name **13 judges** for Colorado's two immigration courts: **nine at Denver** and **four at Aurora**.

This is general information from EOIR's public announcements, not legal advice. It lists only what EOIR published: names, positions, courts and start months.

"Temporary immigration judge" is the title EOIR uses for judges appointed to temporary positions.

## The judges EOIR announced for Aurora

- **Robyn Ross**: Immigration judge; start: March 2026 (EOIR notice: [Mar. 11, 2026](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1430876/dl?inline=))

According to EOIR, Judge Buhl-Madsen served as an attorney advisor at the Denver Immigration Court from September 2017 to March 2026.

## Two courts, two kinds of dockets

Colorado has two immigration courts, and they are not interchangeable. EOIR lists the Denver Immigration Court at 1961 Stout Street, Suite 3101, in downtown Denver. EOIR's page for the Aurora Immigration Court, at 3130 North Oakland Street in Aurora, states that the court "is located in a Department of Homeland Security controlled detention facility." If a family member is held in immigration custody in Colorado, our guides to [immigration detention](/immigration/immigration-detention) and [bond hearings](/immigration/bond-hearings) explain how custody and bond work.

An announcement says where a judge was assigned when sworn in; it does not say who is hearing cases today. Temporary appointments end, and judges can be reassigned. The current list of judges is on each court's EOIR page: [Denver](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/denver-immigration-court) and [Aurora](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/aurora-immigration-court). Our pages for the [Denver Immigration Court](/denver-immigration-court) and the [Aurora Immigration Court](/aurora-immigration-court) list each court's address and official links.

## What this means if you have a case at the Denver or Aurora court

A new judge does not change the law that applies to your case or the deadlines you must meet. These practical steps stay the same:

- **Read your hearing notice.** It gives the date, time and court. If a later notice changes any of them, follow the newest one.
- **Check your case online.** EOIR's Automated Case Information portal, [acis.eoir.justice.gov](https://acis.eoir.justice.gov), shows your next hearing and the court where your case is pending. You need your A-number.
- **File at the right court.** A case pending at Aurora is not filed at Denver, and the reverse. Put the correct A-number on every page.
- **Keep your address current.** If you move, tell the court within five days using **Form EOIR-33/IC**. The court sends hearing notices to the address it has on file, and missing a hearing can lead to an order of removal in your absence.
- **Know where you are in the process.** Our guide to [removal proceedings](/immigration/removal-proceedings) walks through the master calendar hearing, the individual hearing, the decision and appeal.
