On **September 24, 2026**, the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) announced two more judges for the **Salt Lake City Immigration Court** in West Valley City, Utah: **Loren Craft**, an immigration judge, and **Brian T. Frees**, a temporary immigration judge, both appointed to begin hearing cases in September 2026 ([EOIR announcement, September 24, 2026](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1462441/dl?inline=)). They are the latest of seven judges EOIR has announced for this court since October 2025: four immigration judges and three temporary immigration judges.

This is general information drawn from EOIR's public announcements and court page, not legal advice. It says nothing about how any judge decides cases.

## The judges EOIR announced for Salt Lake City

EOIR publishes a notice with short biographies each time it swears in a group of judges. These are the Salt Lake City appointments in those notices, in order:

- **Matthew N. Andrasko**: Temporary immigration judge, from October 2025 (EOIR notice: [October 24, 2025](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1415981/dl?inline=))
- **Joseph Q. Andelin**: Temporary immigration judge, from February 2026 (EOIR notice: [February 5, 2026](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1426676/dl?inline=))
- **James K. Glober**: Immigration judge, from May 2026 (EOIR notice: [May 21, 2026](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1441406/dl?inline=))
- **Stephanie Arrache**: Immigration judge, from June 2026 (EOIR notice: [June 17, 2026](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1446596/dl?inline=))
- **Grant M. Pattison**: Immigration judge, from August 2026 (EOIR notice: [August 27, 2026](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1459376/dl?inline=))
- **Loren Craft**: Immigration judge, from September 2026 (EOIR notice: [September 24, 2026](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1462441/dl?inline=))
- **Brian T. Frees**: Temporary immigration judge, from September 2026 (EOIR notice: [September 24, 2026](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1462441/dl?inline=))

Two of the temporary judges have since moved on, according to later EOIR notices:

- **Matthew N. Andrasko** served as a temporary immigration judge at Salt Lake City from October to November 2025, then at the El Paso Immigration Court, and was appointed an immigration judge at the **Portland Immigration Court** in May 2026 (EOIR notice of May 21, 2026).
- **Joseph Q. Andelin** was appointed an immigration judge at the **Otero Immigration Court** in August 2026 (EOIR notice of August 27, 2026).

## Who is on the court's EOIR page now

EOIR's [Salt Lake City Immigration Court page](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/salt-lake-city-immigration-court), updated September 24, 2026, lists this staff directory:

- **Assistant Chief Immigration Judge:** Theresa M. Scala
- **Immigration Judges:** David C. Anderson, Stephanie Arrache, Loren Craft, Christopher M. Greer, Grant Pattison and Brock Taylor
- **Temporary Immigration Judge:** Brian Frees

That page, not a list of announcements, is the reference for who sits at the court today. Not every judge EOIR announced for Salt Lake City over the past year appears on it. Assignments change, and EOIR updates the page from time to time.

The same page gives the court's address as **2975 South Decker Lake Drive, #200, West Valley City, UT 84119-6094**, a phone number and an email address for questions, and its public hours as 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (window filing until 4 p.m.), Monday to Friday except federal holidays. EOIR's [operational status page](https://www.justice.gov/eoir/immigration-court-operational-status) listed the court as **OPEN** on September 28, 2026. Our [Salt Lake City Immigration Court page](/salt-lake-city-immigration-court) collects these details with detention, bond and case information for the court.

## What this means if you have a case at the Salt Lake City Immigration Court

A new judge does not change the law that applies to your case. Your case is still a [removal proceeding](/immigration/removal-proceedings) under INA section 240, with the same forms of relief and the same deadlines. What can change is the practical side: the name on your hearing notice, the courtroom, or the date. Some steps are worth taking now:

- **Read your latest hearing notice.** It shows the date, time, courtroom and judge. If a case moves to a different judge, the court sends a new notice.
- **Check your case online.** EOIR's Automated Case Information portal at [acis.eoir.justice.gov](https://acis.eoir.justice.gov) shows your next hearing, and EOIR also runs an automated phone line for case information. You need your A-number.
- **Keep your address current.** If you move, file **Form EOIR-33** with the court right away. Hearing notices go to the address the court has on file, and missing a hearing can lead to an order of removal in your absence.
- **File at the right court.** Papers for a Salt Lake City case go to the Salt Lake City Immigration Court in West Valley City, not to another court, unless the judge has changed venue.
- **Prepare the same way for any judge.** Deadlines for applications and evidence are set by the court and the rules, and they do not move because a judge is new. Our guide to [deportation defense](/immigration/removal-defense) explains the main forms of relief.
