Zadvydas v. Davis
Zadvydas v. Davis (2001) is a U.S. Supreme Court decision holding that 8 U.S.C. 1231(a)(6) does not authorize indefinite detention after a removal order. It recognized a presumptively reasonable detention period of six months when removal is not likely in the foreseeable future.
