Miami and Krome Immigration Courts: New Judges in 2026 and the Detention Centers Krome Covers

Between March and July 2026, the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) announced eight new immigration judges for the Miami Immigration Court and two for the Krome (detained) immigration court, one of them a temporary immigration judge. As of September 28, 2026, EOIR's Administrative Control list, which says which court handles which detention facilities, still assigns seven facilities to Krome, including the site known as "Alligator Alcatraz."

This is general information, not legal advice. The sources are EOIR's judge announcements (for example, the March 11, 2026 announcement (opens in new tab) and the July 29, 2026 biographies (opens in new tab)) and the Immigration Court Administrative Control list (opens in new tab).

The new judges at the Miami Immigration Court

The Miami Immigration Court is at One River View Square, 333 South Miami Ave., Suite 700, Miami, FL 33130. EOIR's biographies name these new judges for the court, with the month each was appointed to begin hearing cases:

Kyle V. Mitchell's June 2026 biography says he "was appointed as an immigration judge in June 2026" and had earlier been appointed a temporary immigration judge; EOIR's October 2025 announcement (opens in new tab) listed him then as a temporary immigration judge at the Dallas Immigration Court. Christian Michael Pressman is returning to the bench: his biography says he served as an immigration judge at the Imperial and Miami immigration courts from December 2018 to September 2025.

The new judges at the Krome (detained) court

EOIR calls this court "Miami Krome (Detained)." It sits inside the Krome North Service Processing Center, 18201 S.W. 12th Street, Building 1, Suite C, Miami, FL 33194, and hears cases of people held in immigration detention.

Which detention facilities Krome covers

EOIR's Administrative Control list, updated September 28, 2026, assigns these facilities to the Krome court:

On June 25, 2026, Florida's Governor issued a press release (opens in new tab) saying: "Detainees who are still awaiting deportation have been transferred to other federal facilities, and demobilization efforts are underway." EOIR's list still names the facility.
