The court is in Suite 300 of the 500 Jefferson Building, at the corner of Smith Street and Jefferson Street in the southwest of downtown Houston. The downtown court moved here in August 2024 from the Mickey Leland Federal Building on Smith Street.
METRORail's Red Line runs down Main Street, with the Bell station about four blocks east. The building connects into Houston's downtown tunnel system — a climate-controlled pedestrian network linking much of the central business district — and has an integrated parking garage.
The 500 Jefferson Building, completed in the early 1960s as the first tower of downtown's Cullen Center, is a 21-story office building listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019 for its mid-century architecture.
Houston is the most populous city in Texas and the seat of Harris County. This downtown court is one of several Houston-area EOIR courts and sits within the Fifth Circuit.
